Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 8:00am EST, January 30, 2008 Michigan Filmmakers Claim International Victory Las Vegas, Nevada – While the winner was announced at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, local filmmakers Erick Donaldson and Michael Poindexter waited by the phone to hear the results. Shelly Emery, Sr. Manager on the North American Business Objects team, called them with the news. “We won!” Emery recruited the Flint area MAE Films video production company to produce the film entry KA. “We were on a very tight schedule with this one, more so than other projects.” Donaldson said, “We shot on location in Chicago and were back editing the next day.” Film entries from around the world were submitted to the 6th Annual Business Objects International Film Festival, and only six finalists were selected for showing in Las Vegas. “The different entries premiered throughout the week and ours showed early,” Emery said. “As the other films were shown, the excitement about ours just seemed to increase.” MAE Films debuted at the 2007 Flint Film fest with their entry Forgotten Winter, shot mostly in Flint, Michigan. Donaldson and Poindexter help make up creative production firm that has since gone on to film music videos, commercials, cooperated web films, and weddings. “We have a hard time turning away any projects.” Poindexter Admits. “There is a challenge with each and every client’s vision, and we do everything we can to realize that vision.” The North American team claimed $1000 for the victory at the film festival. “Our plan was to hopefully win the festival and then turn around and donate the money to charity.” Emery said. The money went to Pete Collett who is currently participating in the WoodVale Atlantic Rowing Race. The WoodVale is one of the world’s toughest nautical challenges and the ultimate test of mental and physical strength and endurance. More people have stood on the top of Mt. Everest than have rowed an ocean. Collett is attempting to become the first Australian citizen to row unassisted across an ocean solo. He is employed and sponsored by Business Objects and is dedicating his entry to the great work being carried out by the charity Alzheimer’s Australia. B.A. Blessing Productions brought us into the Second City last weekend and we had a great time. No R and R for the MAE Films crew because we did not stop. I think we figured we where idol only to clean up and sleep a couple hours here and there. “Seeking for a Mate,” is the first in a series of plays about the “Love” family, following the troubles and tribulations of everyday family situations that face us all. We filmed three nights and will be producing their DVD that should be out in about a month. We also did some homework and took a field trip to the Broadway hit “Wicked.” Wow. I don’t know if that is the right word, but that’s how we all summed it up. Wow. We have had some good projects in the Windy City and look forward to the next. Good food, great entertainment, and good friends old and new, we love working and playing in Chicago. AUG. 1st, 2007 From Forgotten Winter to Detroit Heat. . . It has been a whirl wind year for MAE Films! We have some top secret projects in the works and we are also enjoying a very busy summer here in Michigan. "Forgotten Winter" has gotten a lot of exposure and we are going to be entering it into a few film festivals in 2008. We were going to do 4 or 5, but Erick is shooting for 10 or more. Most of them will be local within Michigan, however we are swinging for the fences and are going to enter into Sundance and a couple other big ones. If we get good enough feedback from that, the plan is for a national film festival tour in 2009 along with another film as well. Boy that's a long way away!!! If you haven't watched "Forgotten Winter" yet, check it out. We finished off July by working with the rap group HARD LABOR CAMP in Detroit Michigan. I have stories to tell for the rest of my life. It was a great experience and a hard day of work and filming around the City of Detroit, and we have some amazing footage! You need to check these guys out at www.myspace.com/hardlaborcamp. If the exclusive cut "Gotz ta have it" is still up, that is the song we shot the video for, so look for that video sometime in early fall. There is also talk of future projects, so I think we may see some great stuff coming out of the D Camp with some help from MAE Films. We have helped a few bands out this summer by filming performances and placing their entries for the upcoming show "The Next Great American Band." Stay tuned for info on the performers and if they made it onto the show. We will be with the country group Mandi Layne and the Lost Highway the first Sunday in August to film her concert in Bay City. The rest of August is filled with events, editing, planning and whatever else comes our way. It promises to be a great rest of 2007!!! We'll give you an update in September, so until then, Erick, Aaron and Mike, out.
